Social Media Plan & Posts

• • •

The Emergency Response Toolkit provides social media posts ready to publish to your organization’s social media accounts. The posts are part of a two-pronged social media plan on these topics: natural disasters and disease outbreaks. Each topic has a variety of posts. Every post has a graphic paired with accompanied text, because people are more likely to read posts that contain graphics than posts without graphics.

The social media plan includes two content themes (natural disasters and disease outbreaks) for Facebook and Twitter. Carefully crafted content, including text posts and graphics, can be used on social media to initiate conversations about mosquito control after a natural disaster, such as a hurricane, or during a mosquito-borne disease outbreak.

Example

Here is an example of a post that focuses on mosquito control in natural disasters.

Each post mentioned in the social media plan is customizable for your emergency response efforts. The PIE Center encourages you not to  change the message of the social media post, but suggests that you make each post personal to your organization. We have provided a section of each social media post where you can add a logo/graphic or a link to your city or county’s mosquito control Facebook or web page.

Use the tagline “Prevent & Protect” in every post to unify branding.
